Sherbet Experiment

Today in science, we did a science experiment involving sherbet. We first got a recording sheet for keeping track of the amount of scoops of each ingredients we added. For this, we needed ingredients such a icing sugar, baking soda, citric acid, artaric acid, and we needed a cup. Before we used them, we had a try at all the ingredients. We first tried the icing sugar and it was really powdery and sweet. Then, we had the baking soda and mostly everyone was running straight to the toilets. After, we tasted the citric acid and that was bitter and really strong. Finally, we ate the tartaric acid and it was sour and was very strong flavoured. When we finished, we got a cup and put a bit of each ingredient and mixed it up. Eventually, we got to try it out and we could add as much of each thing as much as we want. At the end, we were all allowed to try each and everyone's cup of ingredients and they were all very good. I'm really glad that we could get the opportunity to do this and we all really had fun.

Graduation Mass

Yesterday at 5:30, there was graduation mass. When we entered the church, there were lots of families, including my family. All the year 6's were waiting at the entrance of the in the opening song. After, our monsignor Bernard, was talking to us. When that finished, we were singing more songs. Eventually, we started singing Hark the Herald and Away In A Manger. Right after that, all the year 6's including me came up the front of the church and gave all the year 5's their leadership candle for 2019. Soon after, we performed our graduation song and it was called The Time Of Our Lives by Tyrone Wells. During the end, we were given presents and a certificate of graduation. The present we got was a photo of all the year 6's. Finally, we all left the church during the final hymn. When we all got out, the parents and other kids were crying because they were sad. The mass was very sad and we all were glad to be together at the last mass. And this is a photo of my graduation poster.

Potato Gun Experiment

Today in science, we did a test for potato guns. The things we used were McDonald straws, a skewer, a potato, and paper to record your results. The first thing you need to do is put some potato in the by stabbing your straw in the potato. You'll need a bit of potato in one end. Secondly, you need to put some potato in the other end. Once you've done that, you need to slowly push the skewer in the straw in any end. Make sure you use the blunt side of the skewer and not the sharp side because you could pick up the potato. The way you know that you've done it is when you see it fly pretty far. And maybe it wouldn't work for others because you either used the wrong side or maybe you pushed the skewer in too fast. Or maybe because it wasn't airtight. This experiment didn't work for everyone but it was fun.

Passport Tasks

On Friday the 30th, I finished my passport task. The task we did was to draw a picture that relates to a piece of lyrics that's in a New Zealand song. The song I chose was Vibes from Six60. The lyrics that I picked was "I 'Lucky That My Wish Came True".  I did this task because that was a way that I can improve my drawing skills and it can help me become creative and so it would help me imagine and think for myself. The drawing wasn't easy but it was very fun and looked cool.

Sports Assembly

Last week on Friday, there was sports assembly for athletics. The events we did was 800m, 400m, 200, 100, shot put, long jump, discuss, high jump, and the relays. Before we did the sports assembly, we presented the haka we did for Eden Albert Kapa Haka. After that, we had the birthday and merit certificates.
Soon later, we had the athletic certificate for the 5 and 6 year olds.
Then, we had the 7 and 8 year olds. Later, there was the 9 and 10 year old. When that was done, the Irish dancers presented their dance. Finally, they had the 11 year old boys and girls. In 100m, I got 1st, in 200m I got 1st, and in 400m, I got 1st. I didn't want to do 800m though. I didn't get a place in shot put, I came 2nd in long jump, 3rd in discuss, and 2nd in high jump. And in the relay, our team came 2nd. The assembly may have been 20 minutes longer, but it was very cool to see what place everyone got.

3D Shapes

Last week for maths, we did an activity on 3D shapes. The first thing we did was we had to fill out a worksheet about shapes and how many corners and faces it has. Soon after, we started working on the shapes and cut it out. There were different shapes and objects like cubes, square based pyramids, cones, and pentagonal prisms. I decided to do the pentagonal prisms because there weren't a lot of people doing it. We did this activity because it was something we usually didn't do and it's very cool. It wasn't very easy but it was fun.

Passport Task

For topic, I did a slide about a New Zealand artist and I picked Dave Dobbyn. This activity was worth 20 points. What we had to do was to pick a New Zealand artist or band and make a slideshow about when they started singing and about their childhood story. I picked him because this is an artist I haven't heard about too much and because he sounds like a good artist. This is my slide about Dave Dobbyn.

Eden Albert Athletics

Yesterday on Thursday 22nd of November, year 4, 5, 6 boys and girls went to Eden Albert Athletics in Mt Roskill. The events I competed in was 100m, 200m, 400m, and the relays. It was a 400m track and there were lots of kids and adults there. The first even that was called out was 800m for the girls. The first track event for the boys was 11:00 and it was 800m

. And my first event was 100m and was at 11:30. In that race, I pulled a hamstring during the race and I ended up coming last. But it was really fun because I met some of my old friends. In 10 minutes, there was 200m and I came 4th in that race out of 7 people. Half an hour later, they called all the year 6s for 400m and I just came 4th.

Then, in an hour everyone in the relay for the girls and boys. The 6 girls ran first but they came last. Then, the year 6 boys were up and they came last as well. But the year 4 and 5 girls did well and they came 4th. Then the year 4 and 5 boys ran and they came second to last. Even though we didn't get a place in anything, it was really fun and I'm glad to be there.

World War 1 Powerpoint

On Tuesday, we were all given a souvenir that was from before world war 1. Before we were given souvenirs, we all were paired up and I was with my friend. We had to find out the story behind our souvenir. The souvenir my partner and I got was a button and a card with the name of a school. I had the card with the name of a school. The story behind my souvenir was that there was a man that the school believed in because the school students were volunteered to serve in the war. So the put a name of a man to remember of all the school kids. This is our presentation.

Kapa Haka

On Saturday 17th of November, there was kapa haka for our school. The kapa haka took place at rocket park. The songs we performed were a school song that we came up with, Te Aroha, Hareruia in Maori, and Tika Tonu. We all  in front of the stage first waited till everybody came so we could get in order before we went on the stage. It was very intense performing because there were 1,000 people. After, we all were happy and we thought it was cool to be there.

Friday 16 November 2018

Science Experiment

Today in science, we did a science experiment. The experiment was to use different types of tweezers and they were all labeled with numbers in codes. We all picked a tweezer that would pick up skittles and gummy bears the best. We named them Type 1, Type 2, Type 3, Type 4, Type 5, and Type 6. For the gummy, we chose type 5 because it would just poke through it and because the surface of the tweezer is very soft and was wide enough to scoop it up. But before we tested it, we got to eat a skittle and a gummy bear each. Then after, we got to eat the rest of the skittles and gummy bears. And, we had to record which one was the best for us to use. The experiment was very good and we were glad to be a part of it.

Passport

During this term, we've been learning about New Zealand artists and about during music in the past. There were different categories such as art, music, physical movements, and presentation. They were activities that were up to 50 points and we had to reach up to 200 points by the end of this year. I am up to 180 points. The passport tasks are very good because it can help you learn more about New Zealand artists and about the history behind them. That's why the passport task are very fun and are very good.

Athletics

On Wednesday 14th of November, the school and I went to Three Kings Reserve for athletics. When we arrived, we all sat down on the concrete stairs and just waited for the events to be ready. The first event we started of with was 800m but I didn't do it because I wanted to save my energy and everyone had to be in the same lane. Soon after, the teachers announced 200m and I placed 1st. Then we had 400m and I placed 1st again. And then, we had 100m and I came 1st again. Later, we did the field events. The first event we did was discuss and I came 3rd.

After, we did long jump and I came 2nd, but when we did shot put I didn't come a place. Lastly, we had the relays and I was in the relays. I was the 2nd runner. The places were Cowley, Hillary, Blake, and Sheppard. When we finished it was very disappointing but was very fun. Thanks to all the parent helpers and the teaches for coming along because without them we wouldn't have been there.

Wednesday 7 November 2018

Comic Writing

On the 7th of November, Mr. Drummond came in and taught us about how to draw comics and how to draw well. We all thought of a story we could do or we could just make a comic we thought of doing. My comic was about two people who go and rob a bank and there's a cop that tries to stop him but he gets distracted by the money he saw.
We did this because comics are interesting and we all wanted to learn about comics. This lesson was very fun and enjoyable for all of us.

High Jump

On Wednesday 7th of November, there was high jump for all 11 year old boys and girls. For the boys only 5 people did it and 3 girls were doing it. The height we started of with was 0.95 meters. Sadly only a few of us managed to make it and 1 girl didn't manage to do it. Soon we moved to 0.98 and there were only 3 boys left and I was one of them. Eventually, only 1 girl was left and for the boys, there was only me and someone else. I did come 2nd but it was really fun and the person who got 1st was really good. I'm glad I got a place and it was very competitive.

Thursday 25 October 2018

Bike Safety Ride

In the morning, my class and I did a bigfoot bike safety programme. The programme went on for 2 hours and was really fun. The first thing we did was biking in circles just to see who can ride a bike. After, we played a game called green light red light. Then,  we were riding with one hand by holding out your left hand or right hand. Finally, we played a game where if you put your foot on the floor or bump into someone you're out. This bike ride was very fun and taught us a lot.

Orientation Day

On Friday in October, me and other year 6 boys in my school went to the St Peter's College Orientation day. When we got there, we all waited at the entrance of the school for everyone who got in. Then, we got to see all the other people who are at St Peters. We first did a reading test and we all had 1 hour to finish the test.

After, we had a writing test and lots of people were going to the toilet while the test was still going. Then, we had morning tea and we could meet some of the people in the school. Soon, we did a math tests and it went really well because it was a test we've done before.

When we finished, we had a music test and for the music test, we had to put an answer to see if the instrument was played higher, lower, or the same. They played it twice and they played more than one note, they played about three or more. After, we had lunch and it lasted for 20 minutes. Finally, at the end of the day we got to go home. After that, everyone thought it was fun and cool to see their friends again.

Tuesday 16 October 2018

Kia Kaha Shields

In Religious Education, we did shields about ourselves and the classroom. On the left side of the shield was about how we are special. Then the left side is about how the classroom was special. We did the shields because we wanted to show why we are talented and why the class is talented.
This is my shield.

Grandparents Day

On Grandparents Day, the first thing we did was go to mass. When it ended, all the grandparents headed to the library and got some refreshments. There were cakes, cupcakes, sausage rolls, and more. Later, we all waited for performances. There were Samoan dances, playing the ukelele, and Irish dancing. After all that fun, we headed back to our class and did some work. This was very fun.

Cultural Week

Last week, was Cultural week. For Cultural Week, we all got to choose 3 languages we could learn. I picked Spanish, German, and Chinese. I got put in German. We learned numbers to 20 in German, greetings in German, and sentences you'd use in a conversation. We also learned a German slap dance and we presented it on Friday. I thought it was really fun and was a great way to educate others.

Thursday 20 September 2018

My Rugby Tournament

Last week on Thursday, I went to a rugby tournament it Taupo. When we left it took us 3 hours to get there and had to fuel up twice for the trip. When we got there, other teams came then we played manhunt. The first game we lost to Clifton and lost the other game we played. On Saturday, we lost 2 out of our 3 games. Then we won the last game. Sadly we only played 1 game but we won. After we had to head back to Auckland. Even though we lost we still had fun.

Thursday 13 September 2018

Social Justice Week

For Religous Education, we were doing an activity about Social Justice Week. We did a feather and wrote words that mean happy and things that can make you happy. And we coloured it in with felt and with colour pencils. We even watched a video about including others and not judging others by their looks.

Author Visit

Yesterday, a very famous author came to visit the school. His name was Raymond Huber. He came into our classroom and talked about how he started writing and things about his books. Some of his books are true stories and some of them are about bees. I really enjoyed this author visit a lot and was one of the best visits yet.

Speeches

6 weeks ago, I said my speech about Air Pollution. My time for it was 2:52. I really enjoyed it because I felt more confident. This is my speech:

1. Have you ever heard of Air Pollution?. If you haven’t, Air Pollution is one of the worst types of pollution and is the world’s deadliest environmental issue. But have you ever wanted to know what it does to the environment? Well, today, I am here and I am going to tell you about air pollution and how it affects the environment

2. But what is air pollution? Well, air pollution is the bad and negative gasses, chemicals, and particles which flow through the air. It damages living things such as animals and plants but most importantly it can injure and even kill us. Air pollution also contains different types of dioxide including carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, sulfur, and nitrogen.

3. But how is air pollution created? Well, Air pollution is created by two main sources. Natural and Man-Made. Man-made, as in human actions I mean is us using vehicles like cars and trucks. We form air pollution with vehicles by smoke which comes out from the back of the car if your speeding. But it mainly comes from factories in the pipes. Natural is by things that erupt like volcanoes, but it’s also from rainstorms and forest fires. Air pollution is also created by fossil fuels. For example, burning coal or other sources like natural gas is creating air pollution.

 4. Air pollution obviously will affect us but most of all how can it affect the environment? That is a good question, well, Air pollution affects us in many ways. It puts you at a high chance of asthma or possibly other diseases like lung cancer and heart disease but most of all difficult breathing. Air pollution also has a poisoning and a harmful affection to it which can cause us death. An interesting fact is that we are the main reason air pollution is being caused and we are suffering the consequences by death. Air pollution can even cause acid rain by smoke coming from factories which heads towards the clouds and if you notice it turning greyish or black that could be acid rain coming. But it’s mostly your imagination. When it touches the ground, it makes the soil and everything an unfit habitat for it.

 5. If your wondering, these are many solutions for stopping air pollution. These ways are anytime you are using energy you are using the internet. So DO NOT! use a lot of internet It just makes air pollution more deadly because you watching too much youtube. Another way of helping people and of course electricity is turning off lights when you leave your room and especially remember to turn off the Tv and anything you are not using. Driving less often helps as well. If you can, you can try to talk to your parents about carpooling which is biking or walking somewhere. This also helps with saving money on gas, which is good.

6. So these are many different ways to cause air pollution and how it affects earth and solutions about being safe and being careful to others. So I hope that you know a lot more or know what air pollution is but most importantly I hope you liked it!

Catholic Schools X Country

Yesterday, me and other Year 3s, 4s, 5s, and 6s went to Catholic schools cross country. The people which came 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for the boys and girls. We raced at Monte Cecilia Park. In my race, my friends and I were going last. Our race was 1:30. Out of 80 people, my friend Noah came 22nd, I came 25th, and my friend Otis came 30th. It was tiring but really fun.

Mini BB Fair

On the 30th of August, it was the Mini BB Fair. The bb is books and baking. The baking sold for 50 cents and others were 1 dollar. And the books were 1 and 2 dollars. There was cookies, brownies, cupcakes, and cakes. I didn't get any books though. Everything was delicious and smelt really good. The reason we did this is because we needed to raise enough money for a moral for the power box. And we managed to raise enough money.

Information Report 2

Llamas

Characteristics
Llamas are cute and soft. They are related to alpacas. Llamas are WAY better than alpacas because they like to spit. Llamas and alpacas are both apart of the Camelids family.

Diet
Llamas are mammals which eat up to 10-12 pounds of grass once they are fully grown. They live up to 10-15 years. An average lifespan of a llama is up to 20 years. Llamas weigh up to 130-200 kgs and their height is 1.7-1.8 meters long. Llama also likes to eat vegetables, fruit, broccoli sweet potatoes, carrots, and apples. Maybe that's why they spit.

Location

The native range of a llama is along the Andes mountain except they are NOT found in the wild. The natural habitat of a llama is the Andean highlands, especially the Altiplano of southeast Peru and western Bolivia.

Predators
The llama's predators are mountain lions, snow leopards, cougars, and most importantly humans. If they are getting attacked the male llamas sound off to warn the rest of the group so they can run away.

Are They Extinct?
No. There is now a law where you have to protect them. Do not hunt them! They are no longer found in the wild though.

Information Report

Today in writing, we did a slideshow about a reptile of our choice. My choice was a tuatara. We first did a brainstorm in our books, then we did a draft on a Google Doc and after we published it on a slide. The reason I chose a tuatara is because I like learning about reptiles and because I like learning about other species. This is my slideshow.

Abraham and Sarah

In Religious Education, half of the class
and I did a slideshow about Abraham and Sarah.
We were all partnered up and did a slide each. It
was split into 5 parts. First one was when they were
going to move away when they were told your going
to have a baby. Then when they move. After they wait
and nothing happens. Soon angels come in disguise
to tell them they are gonna have a baby. And 9 months
later they get one. This is our slide:

Math Problems

In maths, my partner Joey and I did a poster about multiplication problems. We did this to help another room with their maths and to help us with maths language. We wrote words that you can use in a multiplication problem and we even wrote problems to help them. This is our poster.

Thursday 16 August 2018

Eel and the Flounder

In reading, my friend Liam and I did a slide show about a myth and presented it to the class. I was called the Eel and the Flounder. It is about an Eel and a Flounder which start of being friends then have an argument about who was the strongest. I really enjoyed it because I like learning about myths and it's an interesting topic. My partner and I did the Eel and the Flounder because it was the first thing in our minds. Everyone else in the class did other myths as well.
This is our one.

Mary Mackillop Day

Today, we did art around Mary Mackillop because we're celebrating her feast day. In the morning, we went to church. After, Room 7 joined us and did it with us. So we got paired up and did an activity sheet about Mary. Then we cut out Mary and got a piece of paper, then got paint and pressed dots around her. It was very fun because I like doing art. This is my one.

Wednesday 15 August 2018

Selkie Slide

For reading, my partner Otis and I made a slideshow on a selkie. A selkie is a mystical creature that can shapeshift into a human. They can shapeshift by shredding their skin and they eat squid, octopuses and other things. This is our slideshow.

Maungwhau Visit

In the morning, a few Maungwhau kids came to our school and performed a few things. They came because it was a cultural language week. They did a haka, a Pacific drumming, and a Sasa. The one I thought was the best was the sasa because they were making more than 1 sounds. This visit was very entertaining and was enjoyable.

Wednesday 8 August 2018

Speechs

In class, everyone in the school and in the class wrote speeches. Writing my speech was fun, well sorta. Speeches are by far my least favorite but it does make you more confident when speaking.
Speeches have to be between 2:30 and 3:30. If it's over or below 2:30 and 3:30 then points get deducted. My speech is about Air Pollution.

Friday 27 July 2018

Country Study

In reading, we were studying about different
types of countries. I did one on Germany. It told us to write different facts about the country, where it's located, VIP( very important person) holidays, sport, food, animals, traditional clothing and 3 places you recommended to visit. I enjoyed it because Germany is really interesting. This is my one:

Animal Classification

Today we learned about how animals are classified into groups. Animals are either vertebrates (which mean they have a spine) or invertebrates (which don't have a spine. Invertebrates are animals like jellyfish, crabs, insects, and octopuses. Vertebrates are put into five groups. They are mammals, birds, reptiles, fish, and amphibians. Mammals have fur or hair and give birth to live young. Birds have feathers and lay eggs. Reptiles are cold-blooded and lay soft eggs. Amphibians breathe through their skin and need to keep their moist skin. Fish breathe through gills and have fins.
5 examples of each type:

Mammals: Otter, Racoons, Sloth, Skunk, and Pigs
Birds: Owl, Duck, Turkey, Goose, and Penguins
Reptiles: Tortoise, Turtle, Crocodiles, Lizards, and Snakes
Amphibians: Frog, Salamander, Newts, Caecilian, and Toads
Fish: Shark, Eel, Gold Fish, Fish, and Sea Horse

Hansel And Gretel

Today in Drama, we did a play on a story called Hansel and Gretel. The characters are Hansel, Gretel and the evil Witch. I played the witch.
I was in a group of 3. We did this so we can work together and get used to each other. I liked how we got to change the
ending of it. This is our video

Matariki

For Matariki, I did a star around
Matariki. To make it this big, I
used 4 stars which have questions like when Matariki
is celebrated, how we celebrate
it and different types of stars.
This my one I made.

Healthy Lunch

Yesterday for Science, we had a shared lunch. For shared, we were meant to bring in healthy food or something with low
sugar. Everyone brought in crackers, fruit, fruit salad, samosas and sparkling water.
I enjoyed eating everything especially
samosas. This is a photo of us.

Production

Wow! Look at all those toys!
Last week on Wednesday and Thursday night, my class and I did a dance for the school production. All the other classes did a performance on different toys. Our class did Barbies and Kens. I was a Ken. We had to dance with a partner but mine couldn't come because he was sick with chicken pox.

I enjoyed being in the production because
I had a lot of fun and I felt like dancing.

Science Road Show

Last week on Thursday, the Year 5 and 6 went to the Science Roadshow which took place at Edendale Primary School. The science roadshow was fun, especially learning about the temperature (and most importantly skipping school for a bit, ha ha)! We also learnt about ice and fire. After a little bit, we played around with science toys which was fun.

Limerick Poem

Today in writing, we wrote limericks. Limericks are funny poems that have 5 lines. So lines 1, 2 and 5 rhyme and 3 and 4 rhyme.
Here's one I made up about someone from Spain:

There was a person from Spain
Who always drove himself insane
He always has fun
He grew a man bun
And smacked himself with a crane.

Wednesday 6 June 2018

Cross Country

Yesterday, this is me doing cross country. This year I came first. It was really tiring and everyone ran their heart out but we had a lot of fun. We ran for 2 and a half laps so we had to go down the road, cross the road, come back, go in front of the office, go around the turf, between Room 8 and 9 and run between the library and the toilet twice.

How Does A Fitbit Count Your Steps?

Have you ever wondered how a Fit bit works? Well your in luck! Today I will tell you how a Fit bit works.

Firstly, Fit bit devices have a 3-axis accelerometer so they know what your doing. An accelerometer is a device which turn into digital measurements when attached to your body.

Secondly, by analyzing acceleration data, our devices include detailed information related to frequency, duration, and patterns of movement to determine your steps taken, how far you've traveled, how much weight you've lost, and sleep quality.

Then, the 3-axis implementation lets the accelerometer to measure your movement in any you move. Making its measurements more precise rather than older, single- axis  pedometers.

And finally, Fit bits have a fined tuned algorithm for step counting. This is used for looking for motion patterns that are most indicative of people working.

So this is how a Fit bit counts your steps and hopefully you learnt something new!

My Poem About The Storm

Today we wrote senses poem about the storm that happened in Auckland last night. Here's mine:

The Storm
I see lightning striking before my eyes.
I hear wind rustling aggressively over and over again.
I smell something burning coming from outside.
I taste my mothers soup burning my tongue.
I touch something that freezes my skin that frightens me.
It makes me feel impressed about the weather.

The Fight Against Godzilla And A Cat Called Mr Dog

IALT: write a story that entertains my audience.

In the middle of the year around July 2nd in USA, there was a soldier named Jason who was just chilling in his bed on his iphone x.Then suddenly, AHH! HELP,HELP! He could hear people shreking and yelling for help. In the background, he could also hear buildings getting destroyed. He had to do something so he did the only thing he thought of, call his friends Bobby and Freddy. He told them about his plan to save humanity.

When they arrived, they found iron and sticks so the first thing they thought of was to make weapons like swords and guns to annihilate their enemy. And when they were ready so Freddy drove them into battle. It took them so long just to find out where this monstrosity was located. Soon, they got there just in time to see who made this mess and it was some midget thing called Mr Dog, who was a cat.”Really? That's it?!” yelled Jason. And he was sitting on the mighty Godzilla!

Bobby and Freddy said “We’re going to die!” but Jason said. “ At least we’re trying though. Everyone ran away”. “Well, you're right I guess” said Bobby. So the 3 of them shoot their guns at him but it isn’t doing anything. "It’s not working”! Freddy said.”Use your swords” said Jason. So instead, they swung and struck their swords at his legs and it’s working! His legs were getting weaker and he shrieked very loud.

So they all grab a rope, tied his legs up and pull as hard as they could and it happened! They did something they thought that they would never achieve in their life’s, they defeated Godzilla!. Then they called the police and they arrested Mr Dog, the cat. After the 3 heroes took down this monstrosity, they celebrated at Jason’s house for 6 straight hours. After awhile they were gonna go home then suddenly BOOM! CRACK! What was that noise? Turns out it was fireworks.

“Phew! Well that was a relief” said Jason. “I know right?” said Bobby and Freddy.

My Memoir

This is my memoir poem. We based them on a James K Baxter poem called The Town.

My House

The house was usual enough
It had rooms, couches, a tv, carpets, tables, windows and beds to sleep on.
My dad and I did what we usually do:
watch rugby, sleep, shout, annoy my siblings and mum, play hide and seek,
play video games.
Doing nothing Iimportant.

My Mantra

Today I will be sharing my mantra in case you're having a bad day so I hope it makes people better after having a bad day. A mantra is a positive inspirational saying to help people feel good.

The way people treat you is a statement of who they are as a human being. It’s not a statement about you.

Camp

In this picture, this is me and my group at Long Bay Reserve building a raft. We used a few ropes and 2 barrels that were empty. And we paddled a lot and sometimes we even lost control, but we liked it.
